Titan: Infiltration

Titan: Infiltration

The Backstory

Project Titan is set in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way, 360 years after the official conclusion of the Great Interstellar War. A War of such a scale that it surpassed human imagination. The loss of life was almost beyond comprehension and became the catalyst for the formation of the Council of 12 and, ultimately, the creation of the Entropy Combat Zone.

The ECZ came into being, under the direct but impartial oversight of the mighty Titan Corporation. This served as a means for other corporations, local and planetary governments, and others, to resolve large scale disputes. It covered a vast range of parameters, in a universally recognised, legal manner that had virtually zero loss of human life.

The primary role of Titan Corporation was to provide the extensive infrastructure to monitor and record all engagements planet side and enforce the ECZ Rules of Engagement. This involved facilitating brokerage services to ensure that the combat teams that each client had engaged to represent their interests, employed a level of experience and technology that was broadly comparable to other teams, and was proportionate to the scale of the dispute seeking resolution.

Your Role

The role of your team is to infiltrate the E.C.Z. by posing as a newcomer for one of the factions. Using this cover you will gain access to other team's secure data terminals, located in their facilities and outposts. These will provide access back to their client's data cores and allow you to retrieve the various historical artefacts that the council's intelligence services have credible proof reside there.

As you progress through the ranks, demonstrating your team's competence and efficiency, you will slowly be allowed to compete in increasingly high profile campaigns which, in turn, will provide access to ever more damaging evidence against the Titan Corporation.

Specific engagements within your campaign are always selected from your team's HQ based on the council home world. You will also have access to black ops missions from here (multiplayer games), as well as the black market (game asset store) to acquire weapons and component technologies. Finally, you can configure and enter any of the holographic training simulators for islands that you have been successful on, to further hone your combat skills.

The campaign itself is managed strategically by your command team from their starship's battle bridge, in orbit above Entropy. From here you can access the many strategic maps available, as well as research options, and unit configuration profiles...

The tactical user interface is represented by a HUD displayed on the various tactical terminals that your bridge crew use to manage the battle below. The feedback from the teams accessing the Titan Corporation stealth cams on the island below is that it is so immersive, it feels like they are really down there directing the action.... just without the constant threat of a violent and painful death!

ECZ War Games

The War Games overseen by the Titan Corporation are streamed live across super luminal, zero width wormholes to every inhabited system. Not only does this generate a prodigious revenue stream for the Titan Corporation via much sought after advertising slots, it also provides the various factions with direct access to millions of potential new recruits to support their respective causes

Adverts for supporting services, as well as individual factions and the Titan Corporation can reach near saturation during the buildup and subsequent coverage of high profile dispute resolution cases, with 10 second slots fetching 10's of millions of credits each.

In more recent years, Titan Corporation has updated the master blueprints for the facilities and outposts to include state of the art advertising space which are priced in accordance with the profile of the engagement. Many teams have exploited backdoor access to these boards to also enable them to display kill stats, etc., as a form of psychological warfare to get inside their enemies heads. A tactic that appears to work well when the balance of power in a campaign starts to shift quickly!

Again, in high profile engagements, you can also find these boards dispersed across strategic locations on the island to ensure they pick up as much streaming coverage as possible.

War Games as a Spectator Sport

In addition to providing extensive advertising space, the Titan Corporation have also created a secure spectators network that allows subscribers to the service unfiltered and direct access to the wealth of nano drone cam’s that are dispersed across each island. These are the same feeds that the command teams access from their starships to manage their campaigns, and the service allows viewers to switch between any available camera, control its movements and, even instruct it to follow specific units from any team.

The service has proved to be extremely popular with campaigns run through the black market, with many game hosts opting to enable interactive chat services with their fan bases, as well as live streaming. A variation of the services is also available within the training environment for those teams wanting to show off their combat skills against a wide range of foe across a diverse set of environmental conditions.

Key Factions & Star Systems

Detailed data on the many star systems that belong to each of the 12 main factions. Understanding the makeup of the worlds on which they have developed can provide insight into some of their technological strengths and weaknesses. Understanding these will be key to winning engagements as it will guide your research, strategies, and tactics far more effectively.

Resource Transport Network

The RTN forms the cornerstone of any successful campaign strategy. It is responsible for the efficient, and resilient distribution of all energy to every outpost and facilities and, by extension, every mobile unit. The interfaces between each building are limited in both number and bandwidth so careful capacity and resilience planning is essential!

Research Considerations

Starting as a new entrant to the games as you are, you will need to leverage technological research fully if you are to stand any chance of surviving the higher profile engamements! The quantum computers used in the research facilities draw considerable power during research tasks so be sure to plan this into your RTN to prevent unplanned brownouts. As per the ECZ rules of engagement, you are only entitled to retain any research you undertake (or recover) if you go on to be victorious. Many teams have found they can circumvent this technicality but resorting to the black market in times of need.

Environmental Considerations

Engagements take place on a wide range of islands across all planetary latitudes. The planning team goes to great lengths to match the island's biomes and climate with the profile of the dispute. A given island can have wildly different characteristics at different times of the year, depending on its locations, and this will drive totally different combat and research strategies, depending which factions are involved...
